Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Issue Mask Mandate

Face Coverings will be required in indoor public places, regardless of vaccination status. The Public Health Rule issued by the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners goes into effect on August 31, 2021 and not August 28 as previously stated. However, exceptions to the mandate apply to children under 5, people with medical and behavioral conditions that would make wearing a mask harmful, people who are actively eating or drinking, and in settings where it is impractical, such as while receiving dental care or swimming.

Gov. Roy Cooper has not issued a statewide mandate to date.
