SC - COVID Safe Harbor

The COVID-19 Liability Safe Harbor Act (S. 147) was approved by the Senate this week by a vote of 40-3.  The bill provides a safe harbor to employers and healthcare providers that follow public health guidelines in an effort to keep customers, employees, and patients safe from contracting COVID. 

The bill ensures these groups will not be the victim of frivolous lawsuits.  If passed, SC would join more than 15 other states have passed similar legislation.  Opponents say this is unnecessary as existing laws handle these claims.  The bill now heads to the House.
