Immunity for Essential Businesses related to COVID-19

Under Senate Bill 704, 1 of the 2 bill signed into law for NC’s COVID-19 response today, under Section 4.14, any business that qualifies as “Essential Business” under the NC stay-at-home order, Executive Order #121 has been provided civil immunity for claims by customers or employees alleging damages due to injury or death unless the were grossly negligent or intentionally caused the harm.
