Charlotte City Council Approves SouthPark as a Sixth Municipal Service District

On April 11, Charlotte City Council approved SouthPark as the city’s sixth Municipal Services District (MSD). An MSD is a special tax district and for this district the goal is to help create the infrastructure necessary to enhance the SouthPark neighborhood. The funds will be used towards hiring administrative personnel, marketing, safety enhancements, capital investments and economic development initiatives. It is set to take effect on July 1, 2022 with a tax rate of 4 cents per $100 in valuation. The additional tax will be levied on commercial properties and will include multifamily properties. It will not include single family. The impacted area is south of Scofield and Wickersham roads, west of Sharon Road and Cameron Valley Parkway, north of Sharon View Road and east of park South Drive.
