South Carolina Statewide Housing Court Overview Webinar

The South Carolina Apartment Association and its affiliates will host a one-hour webinar Q&A session with attorney Thomas Howard of Brownlee Whitlow & Praet and Attorney Will Brownlee, of Loebsack & Brownlee. They will provide a general overview of the Charleston Housing Court Pilot Project and answer questions that our members have regarding its impact if implemented in their jurisdiction.  

Following the success of the Charleston Housing Court Pilot Project, Chief Justice Beatty issued an order to allow the program to be adopted in all counties in South Carolina provided a county or individual magistrate court that adopts a program provide written notification to the Office of Court Administration. The notice must includes the identity of any participating judges and service provider(s) and provide updates when any changes occur.  Participants shall be screened for eligibility based on criteria set forth by the magistrate court in coordination with the service provider(s).
