Mecklenburg County Drops Mask Mandate

The Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to drop its mask mandate on Feb. 26, 2022. This means that masks will no longer be required in most public spaces in the county beginning Feb. 26. Businesses are still allowed to implement their own mask requirements and the county continues to recommend wearing them.

The county’s policy does not have any effect on the mask requirement in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS). CMS has its own policies independent of the county’s.
