GCAA Government Affairs Committee Supports ‘Let’s Get it Right Charlotte’ Campaign

Industry News,

The GCAA Government Affairs Committee joins our partner REBIC, our development community, and others in the “Let’s Get it Right, Charlotte” campaign which has been launched in response to the City of Charlotte’s Draft 2040 Comprehensive Plan.  The 2040 Comprehensive Plan, once adopted, will guide growth in Charlotte over the next several decades and will impact YOU if you live, work, or own a business here.  As multifamily industry members, it is crucial that we weigh in on this. That’s why we support the “Let’s Get it Right, Charlotte” public awareness campaignThe plan proposes policies that stand to negatively affect Charlotte residents and our industry.  For example, policies that would impose impact fees on developers and pursue legislation to mandate inclusionary zoning, in addition to other housing affordability policies that actually hinder housing affordability by increasing the cost of development.  While we submitted those concerns to City officials, those concerns have not been addressed.

It’s up to us to make sure that this critical document reflects our industry’s values.

Please join the ‘Let’s Get it Right, Charlotte’ movement and act today by signing the petition at www.GetItRightClt.com, contacting your local officials, and joining the conversation on social media. Use the #’s: #GetItRightCLT #2040CompPlan #Charlotte #CLT
