A Message from the National Apartment Association's Legislative Team...
We appreciate your continued engagement as an NAA member in our federal advocacy efforts. NAA is responding to two federal rulemaking efforts that will impact your business and we need your help:
- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) 30-Day Eviction Notice Proposed Rule (Deadline: January 30, 2024)
- The Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) “Junk Fees” Proposed Rule (Deadline: February 7, 2024)
Most importantly, we must ensure the industry’s voice is heard as HUD contemplates making permanent the CARES Act 30-day, pre-eviction notice requirement for some covered communities. The comment period closes today at midnight. Please take action now and encourage your industry colleagues to act to prevent more federal interference into the local eviction process!
Secondly, the FTC’s deadline for comments on its rulemaking to prohibit “junk fees” in rental housing is looming. It’s virtually impossible to predict all rental housing fees and disclose them in advertisements as the rulemaking requires. Join thousands of your industry colleagues and take action today!
