NAA’s Mental Health Awareness Week

May 22-26, 2023

Mental health struggles affect the entire rental housing industry, from maintenance workers to C-suites and everyone in between. The emotional and sometimes physical toll they can have on employees provides an opportunity for employers to develop safer, more engaged company cultures.

For National Mental Health Awareness Month, the National Apartment Association is partnering with the National Council for Mental Wellbeing to present a transformative 4-part series of webinars for rental housing professionals.

Acquire approaches for managing stress and burnout, promoting mental wellness in your workplace, dealing with substance use, and understanding mental health issues within historically marginalized communities. You may also participate in our Mental Health Action Day for the rental-housing industry on Friday, May 26.

Mental Health Action Day

Join us in wrapping up NAA’s Mental Health Awareness Week by investing one hour in yourself, your members, affiliates and colleagues by implementing the lessons and strategies from this week. Some ideas could include:

  1. Hosting an event, livestream or fundraiser so individuals can learn, connect, do yoga, play music, exercise or embrace other mental wellness techniques
  2. Giving employees time off to practice their own mental wellness
  3. Gain employee insights on ways to improve (or establish) your mental health policies and giving individuals time to learn and implement the policies
  4. Splitting up the hour throughout the day, including 15 minutes of mindfulness in the morning, a 30-minute break in addition to their lunch time and 15 minutes of reflection before the end of work or during their evening
  5. Providing free therapy sessions for individuals
