COURSE DESCRIPTION

Mold, fungus, bacterial growth, and mildew are more than routine maintenance concerns, they present significant operational, legal, and reputational risks within the multifamily industry when improperly identified or managed. Left unaddressed, moisture intrusion and microbial growth can escalate quickly, impacting resident health, asset integrity, and organizational liability.

This course equips multifamily professionals with the critical knowledge and practical strategies needed to recognize early warning signs, respond appropriately, and mitigate risk before issues intensify. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how moisture infiltrates buildings, how to identify potential mold-related concerns, and how to implement effective remediation techniques aligned with industry standards.

Beyond the technical aspects, the course emphasizes the importance of proper resident communication, accurate documentation, and a thorough understanding of legal responsibilities - key components in protecting both residents and the organization. By the end of this class, attendees will be better prepared to confidently prevent, manage, and document these challenges, reducing exposure while reinforcing trust, compliance, and long-term asset protection.

In this class, you will learn:

  • How to recognize mold or sources of moisture infiltration
  • Perform remediation techniques
  • How to communicate with residents properly
  • Correct documentation procedures
  • Your legal responsibilities
