GCAA Classroom Central Drive

Drive Dates: August 1-August 31, 2022

For the entire month of August, the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association will be hosting an in-person school supply drive at our office, as well as at partnering communities and businesses.

Collection Site Process

The Greater Charlotte Apartment Association is excited to partner with EDS for this year's Classroom Central School Supply Drive. EDS is partnering with our association to assist in all barrel deliveries, as well as the barrel pick-ups at the end of August. Upon registration, you will receive your School Supply Toolkit provided by Classroom Central detailing several valuable resources to help promote your collection site. At the start of our drive in August, EDS will deliver your barrel on-site at your community or business. At the end of August, you will be responsible for specifying what all you've collected through Classroom Central's count sheet which will be emailed to you. EDS will then collect all barrels and deliver them back to Classroom Central's facility in Charlotte, NC.

Drive Donor & Matching Gift Program Partnership

Alongside barrel assistance, EDS has partnered with our association to provide a matching gift program for this year's drive. EDS will match the monetary value of all school supplies collected at all collection sites.

About Classroom Central

Classroom Central fosters equity in education by providing teachers and students with the free resources they need to succeed.

Classroom Central started its journey by serving students and teachers in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Since opening its doors in 2002, it has expanded into six school districts, serving some 127,000 students in nearly 200 schools in CMS, Gaston County, Iredell-Statesville, Union County, City of Kannapolis and Lancaster County, South Carolina. Teachers and other school personnel are eligible to receive free supplies if 50% or more of their students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Classroom Central is about more than just basic school supplies. When a teacher “shops” at our Free Store or Mobile Free Store, they are eligible to receive $1,200+ worth of free materials that include essential school supplies, cleaning supplies, personal care items, STEM and literacy materials and lesson plans, books and much more. For more information, visit Classroom Central's website.
