New Affordable Housing In Uptown Charlotte
A new affordable housing complex opened today in Uptown Charlotte.
Varick on 7th, a mixed-income housing community, is located at 721 E 7th Street and aims to address Charlotte’s rapidly unaffordable housing options. The complex was designed to be “inclusive” by offering a combination of market-rate and affordable units in a walkable area close to the city’s center.
“Varick on 7th isn’t just affordable housing; it’s housing that is affordable to everybody,” Dionne Nelson, president and CEO of Laurel Street, a Black-owned development company that led the project, said. “Housing that will serve all income levels, all demographics and all household sizes.”
