The GCAA Green Committee is hosting a FREE learning opportunity for members!

In conjunction with Earth Day, come enjoy lunch and learn about two important GREEN issues; the GCAA Smoke-Free Certification Program AND practices you can implement to protect water quality of local creeks and lakes.

The FIRE Portion: Learn about the GCAA smoke-free certification program - from start to finish. We’ll discuss opportunities, benefits, legal issues, health issues, and strategies for success (including getting resident buy-in and overcoming objections). Find out how going smoke-free can add to your market share, decrease operating expenses, increase resident satisfaction, and make the community healthier!

The WATER Portion: Learn about stormwater and wastewater systems and common water-related issues at apartment communities. We’ll discuss how to comply with local and state regulations, tips for inspection and maintenance of private sewer systems and stormwater ponds, lease addendums, volunteer programs and resources for educating residents, and common illegal stormwater discharges and how to report them.

SPEAKERS INCLUDE:

  • Kim Bayha, Health Policy Coordinator, Mecklenburg County Public Health
