RENT vs. BUY WORKSHOP
presented by Jennifer Moran, HHHunt
This
unique and comprehensive training session has been developed to
assist property management professionals to effectively discuss
the benefits of renting by educating them with all
the facts.
Now
more than ever it is the responsibility of rental housing providers
to educate prospective and current residents about their housing
options.
Most
consumers have the perception that renting is “throwing money away”
and that the only safe investment is real estate. While homeownership
may be a good option for some, it is not necessarily the best choice
for everyone.
What you’ll cover:
- Key
factors to discuss with consumers and terminology used in the
home buying process.
- The
difference between standard and itemized deductions and how the
consumer’s income affects the amount of taxes due.
- How
to calculate whether a mortgage interest deduction is truly a
benefit to your consumers.
- What’s
required, monetarily, to own a house and the many maintenance
needs of homeownership.
- How
costs may outweigh tax savings and investment potential of homeownership.
-
The definition and nature of liquid assets, the risks associated
with any investment, and how interest rates affect investments.
- The
wants and needs of consumers and how convenience and time savings
is quickly becoming the main reason why people rent.
- The
impact of today’s job market on consumers’ decision to rent rather
than buy.
Once
you’ve completed this workshop, you’ll be able to effectively discuss
the benefits and detractions of homeownership with anyone who says,
“I have to buy a house.”
