  FREEZING WEATHER
Safety Tips

Freezing weather conditions can result in the freezing of uninsulated sprinkler pipes. When sprinkler pipes freeze they can burst and cause damage to the fire system. The Charlotte Fire Department recommends that vacant apartment units (especially those on the 3rd floor) have the heat turned on and operational. Additionally if your property is in the city of Charlotte you have the option to take proactive steps starting Tuesday Jan. 2nd and EXTENDED to Monday Jan 9th, to protect buildings from frozen sprinkler systems.

However, you MUST contact Charlotte Fire before preforming a fire watch and ensure all smoke detectors are in working order and use a sprinkler company to shut the system down to restore them.
