Membership
For Owners and Operators
Who we are...
The
Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA) is an apartment industry
trade association comprised of owners, developers, operators, managers,
and other employees of the Charlotte-area multifamily housing industry.
Firms and properties belong to the GCAA because of the collective
strength the Association has in the realms of legislation, education,
and information.
Founded
in 1977, the GCAA now boasts a membership of over 94,000 rental
apartment units in over 460 multifamily communities throughout the
Charlotte region. Over 90% of all area apartment properties belong
to the Association. With its members providing housing for over
185,000 persons in the Charlotte-metro area, the GCAA is an important
part of the industry for both affordability and lifestyle reasons.
Because
of its constant legislative efforts and ongoing educational &
informational program offerings, the GCAA is known as The
voice of the multifamily housing industry. The Associations
legislative successes have saved the apartment industry literally
millions of dollars over the years. GCAA educational offerings, which
include NAA programs, further contribute to member companies
success by increasing the professionalism and awareness of their
employees.
Benefits
of Membership
AANC
and NAA
Your membership in the GCAA includes you in our umbrella membership
in the Apartment Association of North Carolina and the National
Apartment Association. GCAA, AANC, and NAA lobbyists in Charlotte,
Raleigh, and Washington DC all work to insure the best possible
political climate for multifamily housing.
Apartment
Times Magazine
Our magazine, the Apartment Times, is published ten times
per year and is mailed to our entire membership and to local appointed

as diverse as legislative issues, educational opportunities, marketing
strategies, economic perspectives, fair housing issues, landlord/tenant
law, NAA and AANC news, GCAA Committee updates, eviction survey
results, resident satisfaction statistics, property profiles, and
more. The Associations Executive Director and President are
regular contributors, and members are welcome to submit informational
articles for publication. The magazine also includes a calendar
of events and photo recap of the previous months events. Advertising

AANC
Legal Handbook
This 300+ page manual is a comprehensive overview of the state and
federal statutes and regulations that impact owners, developers,
management companies, and on-site personnel. The text of the Legal
Handbook includes both the actual statutes and comments/interpretations
from an attorney experienced in landlord tenant relations. One of
the key features of this document is a line-by-line explanation
of the AANC lease, with distinct notations regarding any recent
changes to that document.

Legislation
The GCAA takes an active role in both state and local government
activities. As the watchdog for the multifamily industry, the Association
monitors land use planning, building & housing codes, utility
rules, and public services. Click

Membership
Directory
This annual publication is provided for GCAA members exclusive
use. The directory provides a wealth of information about each member,
including contact information, owner/property affiliations, and,
in the case of Associate members, both an alphabetical listing and
a listing by type of service that these members provide to the industry.
Additionally, and updated buyers guide, which lists Associate
members by product/service type, is included bimonthly in the Apartment
Times magazine. Both the directory and buyers guide are
also available here on the web site!
Monthly
Membership Meetings
Association gatherings are held each month for the entire membership
to attend, normally in the form of an evening dinner meeting. Educational,
informative, and entertaining programs at these meetings enable
attendees to interact with other industry professionals. Each monthly
meeting is an ideal opportunity for networking, prospecting, and
showing support for the Association. Click
here for details about the next meeting.
Public
Relations Program
Both the GCAA staff and Public Relations Committee work to update
the local media and public officials on activities & developments
in the Charlotte multifamily housing industry. These efforts also
serve to improve public opinion of the industry, which continues
to grow, change, and react to political and economic conditions
in the region. GCAA representatives are available to convey the Associations
views on current issues, whether to various media or other interested
groups.
The
Charlotte Apartment Report
Published twice per year, this survey of vacancies, rents, amenities,
and relative market conditions is the best source for an accurate
and current view of the Charlotte apartment market. The report is
available in either a printed summary format or a much more detailed
CD-rom version.
Trade
Show
This event is the highlight of the GCAA year, drawing over 1100
attendees annually. Associate members exhibit their products and
services in a festive atmosphere, giving all the attendees, from
on-site to owner/manager industry professionals, a unique opportunity
to review all that GCAA member vendors have to offer.
