WHO WE ARE: The Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA) is an apartment industry trade association comprised of owners, operators, on-site managers, and other employees of the Charlotte area multi-family housing industry. Founded in 1977, the GCAA now boasts a membership of over 94,000 rental apartment units housed in over 460 multifamily communities throughout the Charlotte region. In addition to its owner-operator membership, the GCAA has many Associate Member firms that provide goods and services to the multifamily industry. Associate membership in the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association creates numerous opportunities for developing business partnerships with multifamily housing decision-makers.

Associate membership in the GCAA is open to a variety of companies of all sizes that supply goods and services to the apartment industry. This “Associate” membership classification provides many avenues for business growth within the multi-family industry, with both owner/manager members and fellow associate members who could use the same services.

“An important part of being successful in the multifamily industry is to become an active member of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association. The majority of apartment owners & management companies within the association strongly insist that their properties do business with GCAA vendor members. There are many benefits, both socially and financially, that come with membership in the GCAA. Attending monthly dinner meetings and other social events gives associate members the opportunity to meet and network with both on-site personnel and upper-level management."
Tom Waldron, former GCAA Products & Services Council President

“The Greater Charlotte Apartment Association’s success is due in large part to our Associate Members. Our Associates dedicate many hours to providing the membership with a series of dynamic events each year, including the GCAA Trade Show, golf tournaments, and charity events. Associates also participate in and sponsor the monthly dinner programs. Without its many dedicated Associate members, the GCAA would not be as prosperous as it is today. “Do business with a member” is not an empty slogan; GCAA owners and operators know that it is vital to the health of the industry."
John Porter, Charter Properties
2004 GCAA President

BY JOINING THE APARTMENT ASSOCIATION, YOUR COMPANY BECOMES AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING INDUSTRY.

If your business has a product or service that is of value to the multifamily housing industry, your membership in the GCAA, which represents the apartment industry, is important for two reasons:

Increased Business Prospects:
GCAA membership enables you to target the apartment industry while the industry targets you as a supporting member of their Association.

Membership gives you access to vital information about apartment decision-makers, enables you to contact and interact with potential clients, and allows you to focus your marketing efforts in a cost-effective way. At the same time, membership in the GCAA means that your company will have increased visibility to the industry through the association’s many forums and publications. GCAA membership is a powerful tool for prospecting and enhancing business. The GCAA enthusiastically and actively emphasizes the importance of doing business with fellow members as a means of strengthening both the Association and the industry.

Overall health of the industry:
The Association, through its legislative, educational, and informational programs, contributes substantially to the strength and vitality of the multi-family housing industry. The GCAA’s collective efforts have saved the apartment industry literally millions of dollars. The contributions of the GCAA’s Associate members help to ensure the long-term viability of the apartment industry in the marketplace.

Joining the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association is a wise decision. Your expectations regarding your GCAA membership can be maximized if you understand all that we have to offer. The following are exclusive benefits of membership:

  • Prospecting and networking opportunities at our monthly General Membership meetings: your chance to meet and mingle with over 150 industry professionals each month.

  • Annual Membership Directory and Buyers’ Guide: the GCAA’s yearly publication which lists all owners, management companies, properties, and associate members. All associates are also listed in this directory’s separate Buyers’ Guide section by the particular service that they provide. The printed Membership Directory is distributed annually to each GCAA member as well as to every member property. Current GCAA members can also access the entire directory on this website. (The online version of the directory is updated monthly.)

  • Supplemental Buyers’ Guide Inserts: which are included every other month in the GCAA’s Apartment Times magazine. This insert offers an up-to-date listing of Associate member firms by product/service type. Any visitor to www.greatercaa.org can access an on-line version of this Buyers' Guide.

  • Mailing lists: in either label format or electronically. Send direct mail pieces to the entire GCAA membership base, to owners only, to properties, etc. The list can be tailored to suit your particular needs.

  • Trade Show Exhibitor Opportunities: Display your product/service at this significant GCAA annual event; it’s a cost-effective means of contacting over 1000 apartment professionals in a single evening. Traditionally held in the Spring, this event is always one of the highlights of the GCAA calendar year. The 2009 Trade Show is scheduled for Thursday, April 23rd. Click here for exhibitor opportunities.

  • Exposure on the GCAA web site, www.greatercaa.org: The GCAA's phenomenal website includes an on-line Member Directory and Buyers’ Guide with direct links to listed members’ sites, prominent placement of GCAA’s Platinum Sponsor listing with links to these Associate members' own websites, and industry links to the NAA, the NMHC, the AANC, NC Fair Housing Institute, ULI, NC Building Code, and more.

  • Advertising opportunities: In the monthly publication, Apartment Times, and in the annual GCAA Member Directory.

  • Forums for sharing industry expertise by leading workshops or writing articles for members.
