The Lease Explained: An In-Depth Review of the AANC’s Lease Agreement
APRIL 28th, 2010
Sponsored by Brownlee Law Firm
In the summer of 2009, the North Carolina Legislature passed a variety of new laws which affected apartment owner/operators in the state. In order to comply with the laws, most of which went into effect on October 1, 2009, the Apartment Association of North Carolina revised its widely-used Lease Agreement. Changes were significant in some areas, including these issues and more:
-
New water submetering laws for pre-1989 properties
-
New security deposit laws
-
New habitability laws
-
New eviction fee laws
-
New laws relating to service of evictions by the sheriff
-
New accessibility building code
This seminar will also include a general review of the AANC Lease Agreement and will provide clarification of the most commonly-misunderstood elements of the document.
