PRESIDENT
Marcie Williams, CAM, CAPS,
Camden Property Trust
Marcie has been in the apartment industry for over 16 years
and is currently Regional Manager of Real Estate Investments with
Camden Development. She is a graduate of the University of North
Carolina with a BA in Journalism. She chaired the Membership Committee
in 2003, the Seminars Committee in 2004, Programs Committee in 2005
and the Education Committee in 2006. Marcie has been an active instructor
for NALP, CAM and CAPS classes in Charlotte and Columbus, OH. She
holds her CAM and CAPS designations and also her NC Real Estate
License. Awards Marcie has received from the GCAA include Manager
of the Year (2001), Volunteer of the Year (2004), and Instructor
of the Year (2006).
VICE
PRESIDENT
Adam Ford, Crosland, LLC
Adam
serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Crosland's Southeastern
Investment Fund and directs Crosland’s efforts in acquiring and
enhancing the value of land investments as part of the Southeastern
Investment Fund. He is responsible for its operation including investment
approval as a member of the investment committee, fund reporting,
annual business planning, and budgeting. Adam
recently transitioned from his role as Crosland's Multifamily Development
Manager. He began his tenure at Crosland as the Vice President of
Operations in the Residential Division. Adam
holds a B.S. in Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill and
an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Urban
Land Institute and serves as a Board Member and Treasurer for Right
Moves for Youth. In 2008, Adam will chair the GCAA’s Government
Affairs Committee for the second consecutive year.
TREASURER
Tami Fossum, CAPS,
Blue Ridge Property Management
Tami Fossum is a Regional Asset Manager
and has over 18 years of property management experience. Tami holds
both her CAPS and Housing Credit Certified Professional designations.
She has held her Real Estate and Notary Licenses since 1995 and
received her ARM designation in 1994. Tami has been actively involved
in the GCAA since 1993 and has been a board member since 2004. She
has and continues to serve on many of the GCAA committees. She is
past chair of the Education Committee and currently chairs the Programs
Committee. The GCAA awarded Tami the Volunteer of the Year award
in 2005 and the Instructor of the Year award in 2007.
SECRETARY
Peter Dineen, First Restoration Services
Peter joined First Restoration Services as Marketing Director
in 2003 and has been involved in the multifamily industry for over
six years. Originally from New Hampshire, he relocated to Charlotte
30 years ago when his family moved to Myers Park. He graduated from
Charlotte Catholic High School and later UNC-Charlotte, where he
earned a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice. Of the many benefits afforded
Associate Members, Peter states, “The GCAA has opened the door for
meeting many great contacts, making it easier to market to the apartment
industry. It also has given me the opportunity to volunteer my time.”
Peter has been a member of the GCAA’s Products and Services Council
since 2004 and served as PSC President in 2007, the same year in
which he was honored by the GCAA as a “Volunteer of the Year” recipient.
IMMEDIATE
PAST PRESIDENT
Timothy H. Hose, First LandMark, Inc.
Tim Hose joined SYNCO, Inc. and its leasing and management subsidiary,
Synco Properties, Inc. as Senior Vice President of Commercial Leasing
in April 1983. Prior to joining SYNCO, he was a founding partner
of Spectrum Properties and was an officer with Spaulding & Slye
Corporation in Charlotte. In 1985 Tim was placed in charge of the
company's commercial property management operations. Two years later,
he assumed responsibility for acquisition, disposition and financing
related to the company's portfolio of office, apartment, and land
holdings. He was subsequently elected Executive Vice President of
First LandMark, and, in 2002, was elected President and Chief Operating
Officer of FLM. His responsibilities have been expanded to include
all areas of the company's business, including the development of
apartment properties and other attached housing and mixed-use projects.
Tim is a 1976 graduate of Davidson College and earned an MBA degree
from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978, where
he was a Business Foundation of North Carolina Fellow. Tim served
as President of the GCAA in 2007 and chaired the Association's Government
Affairs Committee for several consecutive years.

Ken
Szymanski has served as Executive Director for both the Greater
Charlotte Apartment Association and the Apartment Association
of North Carolina since 1986. He is the chief staff person
responsible for directing the activities of the Association
to serve the legislative, educational, and informational needs
of the members. Ken represents and promotes the rental housing
industry before the media, legislative bodies, other trade
associations, and before the membership. He is a Registered
Lobbyist in the North Carolina General Assembly and has served
on several committees of the North Carolina Building Code
Council. He has twice been named "Association Executive
of the Year" by the National Apartment Association, and
served as President of the NAA's AE Council in 1997.
Previously,
he was the Education/Public Affairs Director with the San
Antonio Apartment Association. Ken's background also includes
working as a city planner with a specialization in housing/community
development in San Antonio, TX and Toledo, OH. He holds a
B.A. degree in Urban Geography from the State University of
New York at Albany (where he was a legislative aide in the
New York State Senate) and a Master's in City & Regional
Planning from Western Kentucky University. He is a member
of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the Urban
Land Institute, and the Board of Directors of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Housing Partnership. Ken is a former chair of the local real
estate political action committee, SPPACE.

JoAnna
has worked for the GCAA in various full and part-time capacities
over the past 13 years; she has been Education Manager, Apartment
Times editor, Operations Manager, and was named Deputy Executive
Director in '04, which brought her additional senior duties
in support of the Executive Director and the GCAA membership.
She facilitates and oversees all of the GCAA's Seminars & Workshops,
other GCAA Program activities including dinner meetings, the
NAA Education/Designation programs, and many internal office
projects. JoAnna is a Licensed NC Real Estate Broker, a CPCC
honors graduate, an Accredited Resident Manager through IREM,
and a former apartment manager. She currently represents our
affiliate education interests as a member of the National Apartment
Association Education Institute's Curriculum Development Committee
& Program Administration Committee.

Irene joined the GCAA staff in August, 2002. Her prior work
experience includes over ten years in the field of graphic
communications and printing. In her present position, Irene
handles the GCAA's publications and marketing projects. She
oversees the design and dissemination of both GCAA and AANC
information via various media, specifically this website and
the Apartment Times magazine. She is the staff liaison
to the Products & Services Council and organizes the annual
Trade Show in March. Irene graduated Summa Cum Laude from
James Madison University, where she majored in English and
minored in Asian Studies.

Having initially served as the CAA's part-time administrative
assistant, Fran was promoted to Membership Services Coordinator
in September, 2005, and to Director of Operations in June,
2007. In her present role at the GCAA, Fran oversees all of
the association's accounting functions iprovides senior member
service support, serves as staff liaison to the Public Relations
Committee, and manages accounting for the AANC. Fran's previous
experience includes a customer service and accounting postion
with Meineke Car Care Specialists.

Lizzy
is the newest member of the GCAA staff, who joined the team
in June of 2007. Originally from Minnesota, Lizzy recently
graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree
in Criminal Justice. Her responsibilities in the full-time
position of Member Services Coordinator include responding
to the many & varied requests of Association members, supporting
both the GCAA Executive Director and Board of Directors, organizing
registration for all GCAA events, and processing forms orders.
Lizzy handles inquiries from non-member firms and plays a
key role in recruiting these companies into the GCAA. She
also supports the Membership Committee and the AANC.

Pat is the part-time
Administrative Assistant at the GCAA who has an eclectic assortment
of responsibilities. She assists with the organizational details
of the Association's many educational programs, supports the
Operations Committee, and oversees the annual New Construction
Bus tour and Golf Tournaments. Pat joined the GCAA staff in
October of 2005, coming to the Association from a previous
position as a Member Retention Specialist at the Harris YMCA.
She holds a B.A. degree from the State University of New York
at Geneseo.
