GCAA Staff


 
Executive Director - Ken Szymanski
Ken Szymanski has served as Executive Director of the GCAA since 1986. He represents and promotes the rental housing industry before the media, legislative bodies, other trade associations, and the GCAA membership. Ken is a Registered Lobbyist in the North Carolina General Assembly and served as Executive Director of the Apartment Association of North Carolina for 29 years. He has twice been named “Association Executive of the Year” by the National Apartment Association. He holds a B.A. degree in Urban Geography from the State University of New York at Albany and a Master’s in City & Regional Planning from Western Kentucky University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the Urban Land Institute. Ken is a graduate of Leadership North Carolina, served as Chairman of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Coalition for Housing, and is a recipient of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee’s “Fair Housing Hero” Award. His career in housing and community development has included jobs in Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and his native New York.
Financial & Membership Manager - Fran Petzold
Having initially served as the GCAA’s part-time administrative assistant, Fran was promoted to Membership Services Coordinator in September, 2005, and to Director of Operations in June, 2007. In her present role as Financial and Membership Manger, Fran oversees all the accounting functions of both the GCAA and the GCAA Education Foundation, including invoicing, accounts receivable and payable, and more. She also provides senior member service support, serves as staff liaison to the Outreach and Membership Committees, and manages the forms world for GCAA. Fran’s previous experience includes a real estate evaluation and accounting position with Meineke Car Care Specialists and customer service provider at the YMCA. 

Office and Events Manager - Pat Dorcy
Pat joined the GCAA staff in October of 2005 and is now serving as Office & Events Manager,  which entails an eclectic assortment of responsibilities. She coordinates the organizational details of the Association’s membership meetings and seminars, supports the Programs and Operations Committees, oversees the annual New Construction Bus Tour and Golf Tournament, and manages a variety of inter-office matters such as HR, staff scheduling, and payroll. Pat’s previous career was in the human resources field and she holds a B.A. degree in English from the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Career Development Manager - Jennifer Galeazzi
Jennifer joined the GCAA staff in November of 2008 after having worked on site as a community manager. She received her CAM designation in 2007. Her responsibilities in the full-time position of Career Development Manager include overseeing and coordinating all NAAEI Professional Credential programs (NALP, CAM, CAMT, CAPS, and CAS) as well as promoting apartment management as a career to area high school, college, and university students. Jennifer also serves as staff liaison to the Education Advisory Council, the GCAA Education Foundation, and the Young Apartment Professionals Committee. 
Government Affairs Manager - Bryan Holladay
Bryan joined the GCAA team September 2013 as Government Affairs Manager. As such, his efforts focus on forming and maintaining viable working relationships with key elected and appointed government officials. Bryan keeps these leaders aware of GCAA members’ interests and concerns in legislative and regulatory arenas. Voter registration, city planning/zoning, and inspections issues are some areas of immediate concern. Bryan holds a B.A. degree in Business Administration and Marketing form the University of Colorado Business School; his previous experience includes employment in the areas of Human Resources, Public and Media Relations, and Government Affairs for both the Hospitality and Real Estate industries. 
Communications and Marketing Manager  Erica Carter
Erica is the new kid at the GCAA office, having joined the staff in December of 2016. She’ll be handling all of the GCAA’s publications, marketing, and electronic communications projects, including the GCAA website (www.greatercaa.org), the Apartment Times magazine, marketing collateral, broadcast email, and social media. Erica’s background experience includes graphic design for the National MS Society along with marketing and communication for a national franchise. She holds her B.A. degree in Communication from East Carolina University.
  Event Planner- Stacie Man
Stacie originally worked at the GCAA from 2013-2014 where she served as the Administrative Assistant. Returning to us in April of 2017, Stacie Man will be the GCAA Event Planner, her responsibilities will include assisting and planning a wide variety of GCAA Events such as; the Annual Trade Show, Executive Dinner Meeting, and Annual Charity Golf Tournament to name a few. As well as serving as the Staff Liaison to the Products and Service Council and their sub-committees. Stacie holds a B.A. degree in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. 
  Member Services Coordinator  Catherine Rojas
Catherine joined the GCAA staff team as Part-time Member Services Coordinator, where she will provide seminar, database, membership, Board of Directors meeting, and Executive Director support. Catherine previously worked locally in the apartment industry as both a leasing consultant and assistant community manager. She moved to Charlotte from the New York City metropolitan area.
